Many of us, myself included, experience the life we are living by the thoughts we are thinking. These thoughts are be negative or positive. If we choose positive and inspiring thoughts, we normally experience life in this way. The contrast is also true in that if we choose negative and defeating thoughts, we experience the world in this way too.
Recently I have become very aware of how the thoughts or the beliefs that I am believing are creating the reality that I am living. To be honest I am not 100% happy in my life now and I can see that it is the beliefs that I am believing are creating the experience that I am feeling.
At the moment in my life there are a lot of changes happening and I am finding it challenging to stay connected to myself and what I want out of life. I am looking for ways that I can stay centered and grounded in myself rather than getting losted in my head of thoughts.
At times I can see that I believe the thoughts that I am thinking however the truth is that they are just thoughts. We always have a choice whether to believe them or not.
So how do we go about changing our thoughts?
Well a few ways I have come up with are;
* Start becoming aware of our thoughts
* Affirm positive thoughts
* Question the thought/belief and say is this true?
* What evidence is there that the positive belief exists?
As always I would love to hear any thoughts, feedback or words of wisdom that you may have.

You are right. Our thoughts do shape our experiences of the world.Whatever we experience in a situation depends a lot on our thought process. Two people with different perspective will experience the same situation in different ways.

You can’t go wrong with the advice you are providing here. It’s a simple fact that you do (and we all do) create your reality by the thoughts you think. The better your thoughts, the better life is. It’s a simple matter of controlling and monitoring those thoughts on a regular basis. You don’t have to fight the negative ones. Simply displace them with the positive. Blessings to you : )

Great post. It validates the importance of what we think about, we become. Your ideas listed to change your negative thoughts to something positive are good ones – most anyone can do them if they just put their mind to it. Thanks for sharing!

Can you share some examples of some good positive thoughts?

Here are some examples that I have used;
I feel fully empowered in every situation to choose the thoughts and feelings I want.
I do not have to judge my unhappiness or myself in order to change.
Its okay to be unhappy.
I am fully responsible for how I feel in every moment.
Nothing is wrong with me. (nothing ever was)
Everything happens for everyone’s benefit.
I am my own best expert (on me).
Its okay to be myself.
I do the best I can based on my current beliefs.
The only moment is now.
Happy people are more effective than unhappy people in getting what they want.
Everyday in everyway I am getting better and better.
Anyone who judges or condemns me does so for herself and her own reasons.
Everything is happening for my higher good.
Authenticity is the safest way to travel. (I am known and valued for who I really am)
I fully trust myself to do the most loving thing for myself in every situation.
I am perfect exactly as I am.
They are no good or bad beliefs. (just beliefs)
They are no losses only gains.
They are no good or bad people. (just people)
Everything always works out for me.
Happy people don’t stop moving.
I always land on my feet.
My unhappiness is a product of beliefs I hold and can change.
I deserve all the good things in life.
Everything is constantly changing.
I don’t cause other people’s unhappiness nor do they cause mine.
I always get what I want easily and effortlessly.
Now (this moment) is all I ever have.
Focusing on the process always brings me joy, peace and love.
In choosing my beliefs, I am responsible for who I am.
I always make friends easily and effortlessly everywhere I go.
I am lovable and more than enough.
Everything is just an experience.
Everyone is lovable. (no exceptions to the rule)
I am where I am.
Loving is the experience of feeling good, being loved is a bonus.
I am always guided to what the next best step is to take.
The happier I am, the more loving I am.
Believe not in what is…but in what you want.
I do not need a reason to be happy.
I love myself for just being alive.
If my happiness were not dependant on getting, I could go after everything I want without fear.
There is no failure only feedback.
They are no limits.
The world around me is user-friendly.
When I am present, I am happy.
The universe is friendly to my desires.
When I am grateful, I am happy.

thoughts come and thoughts go – if you listen to them they stay – if you ignore them they go – when a thought persists, listen carefully – but it may be no more than an addiction – then have the courage to let it go – if it persists and says no this is not right, listen again and allow it to have its say – then let it take you into deeper thought to find some answers – some times thoughts give them to you, at other times they are only signals of want.

I know what it’s like to have the mind run a muck. I like coming into the present and focusing on the here and now. It’s quite dramatic the shifts that can occur simply by being present to life’s mundane tasks. I shifted completely out of anxiety simply by becoming present while folding laundry. This way I am not engaging my mind/ ego at all and my chances for greater peace are much more within reach. Good luck. The hard parts of the journey often come before a greater opening. Keep the faith!!

I truly believe that we are what we think – and the longer I live, the more I believe it (and see it occur with my friends and acquaintances).
But sometimes I worry about putting myself (metaphorically, empathically) in someone else’s shoes, to understand him/her better, because it might affect me negatively to just go into their head for a little while. It’s a concern, and I’m not sure of the answer.

This is so true! I feel like the more positive we are, the easier it is for us to change the things about our lives we want to improve, rather than just be negative and complain about our lives. When we’re positive, we make changes to be better, and when we’re negative, we just complain without taking positive action.

Yes that is so true 🙂 I agree with you in regards to complaining. When we complain we are focusing on what we do not want. Namaste. TW

Another powerful way is to ask yourself a question… it will form your thoughts. “Why are things so good for me right now?” “How many amazing things can I count in my life right now?” “Why is it so easy for my life to improve?”

Thanks for the good post. For me, I feel like my thoughts are manipulating my action. I fall into my own thoughts, mostly fear. It hides my confidence and ability. I realize that they are just my thoughts and I can change that, but it’s very hard to control. What do you suggest?

The Truth Warrior said:
What I would suggest is to just become aware of your thoughts. Ask yourself what evidence is there that this thought is not true? Act as if the thought is not true….

I have heard it surmised that our thoughts actually follow our actions, that our non-brain intelligence causes us to act and our thoughts are a reflection of that. Interesting concept.
